Calatrava's New Gigantic Building in Oviedo, Spain

Designed by Santiago Calatrava, the building defies description — better just to look at the pictures. Construction started in 2003, but was paused due to the financial crisis. Right now, it’s on track to be fully completed in February 2011. In honor of one of Oviedo’s most famous children, the palace will be inaugurated officially as the Palacio de Congresos Princesa Letizia.

The World's First Rotating Solar Home (Video)

A Village With No Roads (Video)

Can you imagine a village with no roads? There is such an unique place in the Netherlands called Giethoorn (pronounced 'geethorn'). There are no roads, and cars have to remain outside the village. The only access to the stunningly lovely houses in Giethoorn is by water, or on foot over tiny individual wooden bridges. I've been there myself and it truly is idyllic.

Man attempts to hold up gas station with caulk gun

Police have issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of injuring a gas station clerk while attempting to rob him — with a caulk gun. The suspect fled the scene in the company of a transgender prostitute he’d picked up earlier in the evening, according to an affidavit issued by the Travis County Sheriff’s Office.

The Abandoned Palace On Beekman Street

You’ve probably passed it a million times in your travels through downtown Manhattan. Anyone who has ever visited J&R Row or hit the Starbucks on the opposite corner for a post-Brooklyn-Bridge-walk bathroom break has probably noticed its twin towers, and perhaps wondered how much its wealthy tenants must pay to live behind its beautiful brick and terra-cotta facade.
